I became interested in psychiatry after realizing the lack of access this special population had to adequate care. I want to help bridge that gap and break the stigma associated with mental health. I am double board-certified in both family practice and psychiatric/mental health, which gives me a unique advantage in both the physical and psychological aspects of care. As both a family nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner, I believe in the mind/body/spiritual connection since people are not just a series of parts. I want to help my patients not just by managing their medications but treating them as a whole. I strive to build a therapeutic relationship with my clients and provide safe and competent care while helping them reach their treatment goals.
My background as a nurse provides an exceptional foundation of values that guide my practice today. Nursing is a caring profession that involves empathy, advocacy and building a connection with patients. These are values I am passionate about and aim to bring to each patient encounter. One of my favorite aspects of my job is teaching my patients about the promotion of health and prevention of illness. This approach is so rewarding that I make sure to bring it to the nurse practitioner students I teach at a local college.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and doing almost anything outside.
